In the recycling of heavily printed, moist, labeled plastic waste and materials containing volatile components, filtration alone is not sufficient to achieve high granule quality. Micro gas pockets remaining in the melt after filtration, along with volatile components originating from inks, adhesives and solvents, may cause problems such as bubbles, odor, film breakage and loss of quality in subsequent production stages.

Our system, developed to address this requirement, passes the filtered melt through a short and compact melt-conditioning zone before degassing. In this zone, the melt is subjected to controlled shear, surface renewal and flow direction effects through a specially designed screw geometry.

Thanks to this special process, trapped gases and volatile components within the melt are prepared for release before entering the vacuum zone. The vacuum degassing section positioned immediately afterward then enables these gases to be removed more effectively.

Operating Principle

Thanks to mid-line filtration, large and medium-sized contaminants are removed at an early stage of the process, improving the melt quality inside the extruder.

The extended processing and vacuum zone located after filtration allows the melt to become homogeneous again while effectively removing moisture, gases, and volatile components.

The Midcore Series is an intelligent recycling system that brings the entire plastic waste recycling process together in a single line, combining high quality with low energy consumption and a sustainable production approach.

The process begins with a fully automatic feeding system that can be configured according to customer requirements. The waste material is shredded, mixed, dried, compacted and heated in a single step within the specially designed pre-treatment unit. This prepares the material in the most suitable form for feeding into the extruder.

After pre-treatment, the material is transferred directly to the extruder screw. While high-efficiency plasticization takes place inside the extruder, unwanted contaminants in the melt are removed from the system at an early stage of the process by means of the first filtration unit (1), integrated before the degassing zone.

After filtration, the melt is prepared for degassing through a specially designed screw geometry. In this zone, the melt is subjected to controlled shear, flow direction and surface renewal. In this way, trapped gases and volatile components within the melt are prepared for release before entering the vacuum zone. Immediately afterward, the gases are effectively discharged by the powerful vacuum system (2).

After the degassing process, the melt passes through the second filtration unit (3) located at the end of the line. This final filtration stage helps remove fine particles and residues remaining in the melt, resulting in higher purity and more stable granule quality.

In the final stage, the pellet cutting and drying units come into operation. The melt is formed into granules of the desired size and shape, dried and prepared for subsequent production processes.
